Garrick Bauer, also known by his developer pseudonym, CannashBlue, has never been one to be called a square. However, he has now created an app which promises to let you die at the hands of squares.
“I have always loved coding,” Bauer said. “I have also had an irrational fear of squares.”

Bauer is from Roseville, California, but recently moved to Coos Bay in the summer of 2013. After graduating high school in 2015 with a honors degree, he decided to sharpen his coding skills.

“Squares Kill You combines the graceful simplicity of polygons with the entertaining depth of video games,” Bauer said.

Squares Kill You has been released on the Android and iOS platforms. Marshfield sophomore Zach Kellar, has enjoyed playing the game.

“The game is addicting and fun,” Kellar said. “I can’t wait to beat it.”

According to resident Benjamin Adcock the game incorporates the classic elements of arcade games.

“Wow, very addictive,” Adcock said.

Bauer also included his family in the enterprise. His brother, Aydan Bauer, composed the music for the app. Tomiko Marzette, a California citizen, has expressed appreciation for the music.

“I love the music,” Marzette said.

The game currently has overwhelmingly positive reviews on the Android and iOS stores. This may be Bauer’s first app, but he is far from done with tinkering in his new play field.

“I hope to keep making more great games,” Bauer said. “I do it for the people.”

You can download the app here  from either the Android or iOS app stores.
