When the leaves start to turn color and pumpkin spice lattes come into season, it’s time for the annual “Gilmore Girls” rewatch. This has become a fall tradition to usher in the season.
“I have seen Gilmore Girls at least four times over the years,” said Marshfield High School sophomore Lilly Grabinger.
While “Gilmore Girls” is more targeted to teenage girls, parents might watch it to experience a good dose of nostalgia. It has been around since 2000. Some fans stream it in the name of mother-daughter bonding.
”This is a great show for mothers and daughters to watch together because Lorelai and Rory Gilmore are so iconic,” said sophomore Audrey Petley.
But the relationship drama and the high school setting also add to the show’s popularity among teens.
“I would definitely recommend this to people, especially teen girls,” Petley said.
The characters in this fall favorite also stand out to most enthusiasts–they are unique in a way that adds to the plot. The characters make a huge difference, not only with their personalities, but with their appearances as well. Many will agree that whoever chose the cast of Gilmore Girls knew what they were doing.
“My favorite character is Rory’s grandpa because he reminds me a lot of my grandfather, and their relationship is sweet,” said MHS sophomore Orla McCarthy.
While only 48 of the 153 episodes of “Gilmore Girls” are set in the fall, the autumn aesthetics make it feel nearly constant. The color palette for the majority of the show is focused on warm tones to create a cozy feel. The cinematography of Gilmore Girls gives a huge fall vibe.
“I wouldn’t watch it any other time of year, especially summer,” McCarthy said.
