Winter Meet the Pirate Night is a night dedicated to introducing the winter athletes and giving some a short opportunity to show off skills they have been practicing before the season actually begins.
The one hour event began at 6 p.m. and was held in the Pirate Palace.

The teams were introduced individually, including wrestling, swimming, girls basketball, boys basketball, cheer and dance.

The event began with drum majors David Haynes and Jane Suppes leading the Band of Pirates playing the National Anthem, along with Marshfield’s fight song.

Other performances included the cheer team, the girls varsity basketball team and the JV and JV2 boys basketball teams.

Many of the coaches expressed their excitement, and the wrestling coach was among them. Travis Wittlake said he is looking forward to taking some trophies with such an experienced team.

Senior Izaak Grubbs said the season is going to go great for the wrestling team.

“A bunch of people will qualify for state, and we’ll bring home a trophy,” Grubbs said.
