With an undefeated record, the Marshfield football team hoped to keep it last week when they played against Brookings-Harbor on Sept. 25.
Marshfield had a great start with a lead of 18-0 at the end of the first quarter and by halftime they were ahead 39-6.
During halftime the homecoming princesses gathered on the field and senior Ling Ling Zhu was crowned Homecoming Queen.
By the end of the third quarter Marshfield had a strong lead of 45-6, however, in the fourth quarter Brookings-Harbor scored two touchdowns, ending the game with a 45-20 victory for the Pirates.
Although Marshfield won, senior Matthew McAllister said he had hoped for a better score.
“I expected us to not let them score at all, honestly,” McAllister said.
Junior Ian Emlet said he was not satisfied with the result of the game either.
“I think the whole team was disappointed in the plays and penalties, and all the fumbles and interceptions,” Emlet said. “But a win’s a win, although the score and effort wasn’t good.”
