Marshfield’s varsity boys’ basketball team came out strong in their opening game of the season against rival North Bend, clinching their first win, 49-43.
The win on Saturday was especially sweet given the Bulldogs beat MHS at home in overtime last season. The Pirates stayed ahead for the duration of the game with a half time score of 23-11. Senior Dalton Milburn scored 18 points and had 9 rebounds. Senior Colton Thurman scored 17 points and had 7 rebounds.
Marshfield senior Ty Cutting was excited for the win and is eager about the season.
“It feels good to win. It’s a good start to a long season and it feels good to finally beat them,” Cutting said.
The pirates continue pre-season play this weekend, traveling to Wilsonville for a tournament.
