The Marshfield girls soccer team hosted Willamette in a Midwestern League match-up on Monday. The Wolverines scored within the first minute, an indicator of how the rest of the game would play out. Willamette led 3-0 at halftime.
In the second half, Marshfield struggled to keep up with Willamette’s offense, and in the end Willamette took the win 7-0.
Despite the loss, Marshfield coach Heather Arzie is pleased with her team’s progress.
“The game that we had today, last year we lost 11-0, and today was 7-0, so it’s an improvement,” Arzie said.
Arzie was happy with the way her players performed.
“I think we did well,” Arzie said. “I think the kids played hard and gave it their all.”
The Pirates play Springfield at Golden Field at 4 p.m. today.
