The votes are in.
Tonight the Homecoming queen will be announced.
On Friday, Sept. 19, the student body cast their votes in order for each class to choose a girl to represent them as a Homecoming princess.
Seniors selected Abby Clough, Hayley Engel, Katelyn Rossback and Paige Tavernier. Junior Kaylee Krajcir, sophomore Shaylynn Jensen and freshman Kendall Morgan were also elected by their peers.
The princesses made their debut at last Friday’s assembly, and were escorted in their dresses by friends during Wednesday’s assembly.
Clough said she feels as if she has completed the circle, after being named a freshman princess at the beginning of her high school career and a senior princess at the end.
“I was really excited,” Clough said. “It made my year.”
According to Engel, the princesses participated in several activities in the assemblies that took place this week.
“We do the escort thing, took a picture in Heritage Hall, and are playing games at the assembly,” Engel said.
The Homecoming game is tonight against the Douglas Trojans, where the queen will be crowned, and the dance will be held in the main gym from 8-11 p.m. on Saturday.
This year’s theme is “Rumble in the Jungle” and classes participated in a hallway decorations competition last weekend. Other Homecoming week activities included several dress-up days and two assemblies.
