Fall sports recap

The Pirate football team finished seventh in the Midwestern League with a league record of 1-6 with a win against North Eugene and an overall record of 1-8. Several players received all-league honors. Senior Ty Cutting received second team among running backs and honorable mention recognition as an outside linebacker, and senior Dalton Milburn received second team recognition as a tight end. Juniors Bradley Beaudry and Hayden Zimmerman received honorable mention recognition as offensive linemen, junior Jacob McAvoy received honorable mention recognition as a wide receiver and junior Jason Sweet received honorable mention recognition at quarterback.

The boys varsity cross country team finished first in the Midwestern League. Senior Zach Hammond was the district champion, senior Sergio Marroquin finished second, junior Connor Devereux finished third and freshman Dakota Pitullo finished sixth, all receiving first team all-league recognition. Senior Eddie Rodriguez finished ninth, earning second team recognition, and freshman Colby Gillet placed 15th. The varsity team also included freshman John Hampton. The team placed ninth at the OSAA state cross country meet. Devereux was the top finisher for the Pirates, placing 19th and receiving third team all-state recognition.

The girls cross country team finished third at the district meet. Freshman Katelyn Rossback was the top Pirate finisher, placing seventh and receiving first team all-league recognition. Sophomore Shaylen Crook, finishing 14th, received second team all-league recognition. Other varsity runners included senior Natasha Hill, junior Jasmine Meline, sophomores Lindsay Devereux and Danica Stys, and freshman Lauren Tripp.

The Pirate volleyball team finished first in the Midwestern League with a league record of 9-1 and an overall record of 21-3. Six Pirates received all-league honors. Senior Kara Young received first team recognition as an outside hitter and was the league MVP, and senior Kirby Neale received second team recognition as a middle blocker. Junior Peyton Babb received honorable mention recognition as an outside hitter, junior Alicia Hatzel received first team recognition as libero, junior Lauren McGowne received first team recognition as a setter, and junior Hannah Olson received honorable mention recognition as a middle blocker. The Pirates placed fourth at the OSAA state volleyball tournament on Nov. 12, and Hatzel received second team all-tournament recognition as libero.

The boys soccer team finished sixth in the Midwestern League with a league record of 0-5 and an overall record of 1-11 with a win against Pacific/Bandon. Two Pirates received all-league honors. Senior Alex Flaherty received second team recognition as a forward, and senior Kelley Kennedy received honorable mention recognition as a defensive midfielder.

The girls soccer team finished sixth in the Midwestern League with a record of 1-11 with a win against Coquille/Myrtle Point. Sophomores Braeden Kennedy and Alyssa Stevens received honorable mention recognition as defenders. Karl Kennedy coached both teams.
