This weekend includes several big contest for the fall sports teams. Four of the schools’ fall sports teams will compete in a state playoff or championships.
The postseason kicks off Friday night at Pete Susick Stadium, where the varsity football team will be playing Siuslaw at 7 p.m. if successful they will be in the 4A state playoffs and play against. The team beat Siuslaw earlier this season in overtime by one point.
Saturday at 11:50, the cross country team will be at the state championships at Lane Community College. The team placed fourth last year and is currently ranked third going into the meet.
Later that day, at 3:30 p.m., the varsity volleyball team will host Astoria in their first postseason game this year. The team won the league title and had a first round bye. The volleyball team is currently ranked fourth and their opponent Astoria is ranked eleventh.
The final event of the day will be in Philomath, where the boys’ soccer team will be competing in a play-in game. The soccer team is ranked 24th and their opponent is ranked ninth. The winner of this game will advance to the playoffs.
